COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT LAB AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA

Using behavioral, survey, and electroencephalography (EEG) methodology, research in the Cognitive Development Lab examines connections between executive functions and factors that may affect the development of these functions. Executive functions are foundational skills that help us to control interference and learn in the classroom. Due to the plasticity of the brain, evidence has been found that these areas can be enhanced through optimal environmental experiences, such as second language exposure and "brain training" programs. The Cognitive Development Lab uses theories and methods from developmental psychology, educational psychology, and cognitive neuroscience (EEG).
